Kym's Kids of San Antonio is San Antonio's only scholarship based program that engages youths in their community through volunteerism and combines their performance in school (grades, attendance and behavior) to create a winning situation for the students in the program, their schools and the neighborhoods they call home. Partnering with the Carver Academy, City Year San Antonio, Communities in Schools, Boys and Girls Clubs and KIPP Aspire Academy, Kym's Kids seeks to identify and serve underprivileged youth in our school system and inspire them to continue their education and professional pursuits after high school by following a track that is right for them and that enhances their knowledge and skill sets.
In October of 2010, Kymberly Rapier awoke from a dream that inspired her to create Kym's Kids of San Antonio. The idea was simple: help under-served, under privileged youth achieve their goal of a higher education using volunteerism as their mechanism. So from that dream this journey began. Hosting strategy meetings in the living room of her home, Kym sought input from other agencies that work closely with the demographic that she wants to help. Now, that living room has moved to the organization's new home located near downtown San Antonio.
